Thanksgiving Day, let us all learn to be grateful, grateful for them, Thanksgiving society, always being a thankful heart! Organisers of the invitational tournament, the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf Foundation (TSMCG), struck a deal with the Asian Tour yesterday to allow the winners of the under-21 category the right to play on the full tour next year.
The ADT is intended to give young players who aspire to turn professional the chance to gain experience before competing on the full tour.
TSMCG also penned an agreement with the The Mines Golf Academy which will see the top three finishers from both the under-21 and under-15 categories undergo training at the academy, specially tailored to suit their individual needs.
TSMCG president Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas said: "This signing ceremony marks a step forward in our search for a Malaysian Tiger (Woods).
"We hope that by giving them the chance to play on the ADT,
cheap golf clubs coupled with proper training, will help develop them into quality players," said Megat Najmuddin.
The brainchild of Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the tournament will this year feature 80 of the nation's top junior golfers who will compete for a total purse of RM150,000 to be given out in the form of sponsorships.
